• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

    Question Box

I'll go ahead and answer the questions that MF didn't. The end-of-battle ref prize is equally divided between all of the refs. Since the user doesn't continuously feed energy into nonphysical trapping moves (and likely not physical trapping moves, either, though there's more ref discretion...

    Question Box

It's like a game of hot potato, except the potato is very spiky! I'll leave it open for discussion for a day or so, and implement the changes I described above if there are no objections.

    Question Box

Iii think that's what I meant but I am not very clear so basically what allitersonance said. re: Sticky Barb, the description says it only passes on if the opponent uses a contact move? And the opponent can just avoid doing that and (slowly) rack up damage. We could change it to if the holder...

    Question Box

I swear we had a discussion about Body Slam somewhere and concluded it should work as it does in-game. Seismic Toss, however, is still weight-based because, no matter how hilarious the image, I don't think we should have Igglybuff tossing Steelix around for massive damage. I've edited the...

    Question Box

... uh. I guess that was just Negrek cooking up some effects that matched more with flavour? I'm going to go ahead and changed that... We can probably invoke the "home in on energy signature" thingy. Or home in on combinations of trace metals distinctive of a living Pokemon? I like the second...

    Question Box

For Aerial Ace, I recall the reason for it being never-miss is that the user just runs around really fast and slashes through all the Pokemon, dispelling the clones and wounding the real one as well (I wouldn't object to slightly decreased damage in this scenario). As for Feint Attack, it was...

    Question Box

Ahh, I suppose I was misled by the arena description of this battle, but yeah, you're right. Uhh. To be honest I don't even know if we were actually still giving out that bonus and/or keeping track of it, but I'll say you can go ahead and have it.

    Question Box

    Yep.

    Question Box

As far as I can tell Flash Fire doesn't interact with burns (so a non-Fire Pokemon can get burned by Tri Attack, for example). So as long as the burned Pokemon obtaining Flash Fire remains a non-Fire type, the status should persist and it should continue taking damage.

    Question Box

From what I've seen, refs usually smack on an extra 1-2% energy. Since Copycat doesn't really have any effect other than copying a move, I'd probably go with 1%.

    Question Box

I also disliked Negrek's method of doing combos, both flavour-wise and mechanics-wise. Flavour-wise, let's consider something like uh Quick Attack + Body Slam? You only hit the target once with a combo, and though the extra speed would make the combo more powerful than Body Slam by itself, I...

    Question Box

Considering that the combined move has double the power, I think only the second to move actually executes the move. I'll go ahead and edit it to make it clearer. I have a question of my own. Adaptability increases energy costs of moves outside the Pokemon's typing by 1.2x. Does that also count...

    Question Box

Actually I think it should cost the same (so, base 7%) except that it won't need the extra 3% to do in one action.
  14. blazheirio889

    Question Box

It's not really a consolation prize, though; under normal circumstances (ie. people use their own Pokemon), it's an /expected/ prize. The reason we use rentals in tourneys is to even the playing field in the first round or two, but the battlers are still expending the effort to do battle. (in...

    Question Box

Alright, Uproar has been edited. I'm... not sure if it communicates the fact that if Uproar is used for only one action at a time, the user can be put to sleep between actions? And it sounds like you can order it for two actions continuously? Should we leave it at that, or? I'm too sleepy to...

    Question Box

Looking back, it looks like only allitersonance and I vouched for the one-action Uproar thing, while MF said he'd say something about it later? And that was about it, so uh. Should I just change it now or
  17. blazheirio889

    Question Box

Errr I wanted to give some time for other people to give their input on whether Uproar should lock the Pokemon in or not, but that kinda got pushed to the side by other discussion, so uh. Currently it does lock in, but that may change? I think I'll give it another day before I change it so it...

    Question Box

Hmm, the way I see it, forfeiting is pretty much like a sped-up intentional DQ loss. I think we should follow prize distribution in that case, except that the person who forfeits does get a prize. So for money, basically what MF said, but I think experience should be doled out that way as well...

    Question Box

Derpswellow is tempting, but to eat it is to eat a god. You will bring a thousand years of anguish upon yourself and your descendants.

    Question Box

As stated in the Intro to ASB: So no, it wouldn't work, and it would backfire because you're more likely to end up with a tasty roast bird than a super-powered Swellow.
